Briefing on ‘Rethinking trade policies to support healthier diets’

The UK Foreign and Commonwealth Development Officer (FCDO) invited the Panel to present the policy brief ‘Rethinking trade policies to support healthier diets’ as part of its ‘nutrition hub’ series. Panel member Emmy Simmons and Technical Adviser Patrick Webb shared messaging from the Trade Brief with policy advisers located across the globe, many working directly with LIDC governments.
The Trade brief was launched in February 2020 and seeks to encourage policymakers to consider the impact of trade instruments on diets and nutrition. It sets out a framework of issues for policymakers to consider in order to improve diets when developing new trade policies.
