Nutrition seminar | 23 February 2017 | 12:30 – 14:00 | Geneva
Nov 2 2016, House of Commons, London – The Global Panel organised the UK launch of the Foresight Report.
In occasion of the Africa Day for Food and Nutrition Security 2016, the Global Panel is in Accra, Ghana, for two main events:
What will it take to achieve major acceleration in delivering healthy diets in the Decade of Action on Nutrition?
Poor diets now pose a greater risk to health than unsafe sex, alcohol, drug and tobacco use combined and if there are no changes introduced in the current food system, there will still be 188 million calorie deficient people in South Asia in 2030
Is your food killing you? Whether it’s too much junk food or a lack of nutritious food, malnutrition caused by bad eating habits is rapidly increasing.
The Global Panel was in New Delhi for the South Asia launch of the Foresight Report
The launch event was hosted by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) at the Sheikh Zayed Centre at the FAO Headquarters in Rome.
More than 20 years ago, Howarth Bouis, Director of HarvestPlus, and other researchers posed the question of whether nutrition could feasibly be included as a breeding trait. Today at least 15 million people in more than 30 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America are growing and eating biofortified crops. How can biofortification scale up to help reach the 2 billion people who still suffer from hidden hunger?
