Silvia Massruhá is the President of Embrapa and serves on its Board of Directors. Before being named as the first female President of Embrapa, in May 2023, Silvia was Director General of Embrapa´s Research Centre on Digital Agriculture and was responsible for enabling research, development, and innovation of sustainable solutions, focused on digital agriculture.

Before her work as DG, Silvia led projects on software engineering, artificial intelligence, and scientific computing applied to agriculture with several technical-scientific publications and software spanning expert systems, abductive logic programming, fuzzy logic approaches, machine learning techniques, and data mining. In recent years, she has also participated in various agri-tech initiatives.

Silvia earned a PhD in applied computing from INPE (National Institute for Space Research), an MS in automation from the University of Campinas (Unicamp), and a BS degree in systems analysis from Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Campinas (PUCCAMP).
