15 March 2016, Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire Colleagues from the African Development Bank (AfDB), the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), and the Global Panel on Agriculture and Food Systems for Nutrition (GloPan) discuss African Leaders for Nutrition Initiative at the African Development Bank’s headquarters.
The Agriculture to Nutrition (ATONU) project seeks to answer this question. Managing Director Mr Simbarashe Sibanda explains how the project aims at bringing together various actors in agriculture, nutrition and health – which stand at the nexus of successful agriculture-nutrition interventions.
On the occasion of the Panel’s meeting at the House of Commons with the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Agriculture & Food for Development (16 March 2016) for a conversation around healthy diets & nutrition in the context of uncertainty, Ugo Gentilini, a senior economist with the Social Protection and Labor Global Practice at the World Bank, comments on trends in food systems and urbanisation, a key driver of future dietary change which the Foresight project is investigating.
The Global Panel’s new policy brief “Managing Food Price Volatility: Policy Options to Support Healthy Diets and Nutrition in the Context of Uncertainty” identifies policy interventions that can anticipate and mitigate the negative dietary and nutritional outcomes of price volatility and market uncertainty.
